Atlas Adds Seven Pre-Cruise Safaris for 2029
Atlas Ocean Voyages adds seven pre-voyage safari options to four spring 2029 Kenya and South Africa itineraries, starting from $3,429.

Atlas Ocean Voyages has announced seven new pre-voyage land programs for its spring 2029 season aboard the Atlas Adventurer. The experiences are designed to complement the ship's Kenya and South Africa itineraries, according to a report from Cruise Industry News.
James A. Rodriguez, president and chief executive officer of Atlas Ocean Voyages, stated that an expedition does not have to begin upon arrival at the yacht. He said these safaris give guests the chance to enhance their journey with immersive land excursions before they board.
Kenya Safari Experiences
Three land experiences are offered from Mombasa, Kenya. Prices are per person and vary by departure date.
| Safari Experience | Duration | Starting Price |
|---|---|---|
| Amboseli & Tsavo East Safari | Three nights | $3,679 |
| The A&K Sanctuary Experience | Five nights | $12,509 |
| Luxury Signature Safari | Seven nights | $26,969 |
The shortest option is the Amboseli & Tsavo East Safari. It includes two nights at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge and a night at Ashnil Aruba Lodge in Tsavo East National Park. Guests track elephants, explore marshes by 4x4, and venture into the red-earth wilderness before transferring to the ship.
The A&K Sanctuary Experience begins with an overnight in Nairobi. It continues to the exclusive Sanctuary Kitirua Lodge, a private-conservancy retreat bordering Amboseli National Park. The program then moves to Sanctuary Olonana for game drives before returning to Mombasa.
The Luxury Signature Safari is the most exclusive Kenya excursion. It crosses three private reserves: Sanctuary Kitirua, &Beyond Suyian Lodge in Laikipia, and The Ritz-Carlton’s safari camp on the Sand River in the Masai Mara. Guests have 4x4 vehicles and a dedicated tour director.
Southern Africa Excursions
Four Cape Town excursions showcase southern Africa’s landscapes.
| Safari Experience | Duration | Starting Price |
|---|---|---|
| Cape Winelands Discovery | Three nights | $3,429 |
| Kruger Safari & Lion Sands Game Reserve | Three nights | $8,389 |
| Northern Kruger Safari - Ngala Safari Lodge | Four nights | $8,469 |
| Botswana Safari - Okavango Delta & Chobe | Six nights | $17,379 |
The Cape Winelands Discovery is based at Le Quartier Français in Franschhoek. It includes guided tours of Paarl and Stellenbosch with wine tastings, a Wine Tram experience, and an ascent of Table Mountain by cable car before transfer to the cruise terminal.
The Kruger Safari includes an overnight in Johannesburg before flying to Skukuza and continuing to Lion Sands Narina Lodge. The lodge, with stilted suites and private plunge pools, spans Sabi Sand and Kruger National Park. It is known for leopard sightings.
The Northern Kruger Safari goes to &Beyond Ngala Safari Lodge, set within a private concession inside Kruger National Park. Guests enjoy twice-daily game drives, guided nature walks, and optional rhino conservation experiences.
The Botswana Safari travels from Johannesburg into Botswana. It begins at Chief’s Camp on Chief’s Island in the Okavango Delta’s Moremi Game Reserve. Guests continue to Chobe Chilwero, home to a large elephant population, before a final overnight at the Victoria Falls Hotel and a guided tour of the falls.
These new pre-voyage experiences are offered in conjunction with four specific Atlas Adventurer voyages in spring 2029. The ship, a 400-guest luxury expedition vessel, is scheduled to join the Atlas fleet in November 2028. The voyages linked to the safaris include a 14-night trip from Mombasa to Cape Town on March 24, 2029, and another 14-night voyage from Cape Town to Mombasa on April 7, 2029. Also included are a 45-night Extraordinary Expedition from Cape Town to Athens on April 7, 2029, and a 10-night voyage from Mombasa to Mahé on April 21, 2029.
