Princess Cruises is asking some guests to voluntarily give up their cabins on a sold-out Alaska voyage. According to an email sent to select passengers, those who change their September 1, 2026, sailing on the Emerald Princess will receive a full refund and a future cruise credit.

The offer, reported by Cruise Hive, is valid for the ship's final Alaska itinerary of the season. The 7-night roundtrip Inside Passage cruise departs from Vancouver and visits Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan, with scenic cruising in Glacier Bay National Park.

The Moveover Offer Details

Guests who accept the deal will get a 100% refund of their cruise fare. They will also receive a future cruise credit equal to 100% of the base fare paid, excluding taxes and fees.

This credit is valid for two years for any Princess cruise departing within that period. It can also be used for vacation protection, hotels, or flights booked through the cruise line. Princess is additionally offering reimbursement of up to $800 per person for documented travel expenses.

The email stated the offer is first come, first served and can be withdrawn at any time. Passengers are not required to accept it if they wish to keep their original booking.

Princess Cruises urged guests not to cancel any independent travel arrangements until their acceptance into the program is confirmed. The cruise line noted that space in the offer is limited and responding does not guarantee acceptance.

A Common Industry Practice

This type of voluntary incentive is known as a "moveover" offer. Cruise lines use them when a sailing is oversold and they need passengers to relinquish their cabins.

Princess Cruises has made similar offers on other 2026 sailings. The following table compares the recent moveover offers detailed in the source report.
