Costa Favolosa alters Norway itinerary due to rough seas
Costa Favolosa cancelled calls in Leknes and Bodø due to forecasted strong winds and rough seas, reshuffling its Norwegian route and offering onboard credit.

Costa Favolosa revised its Norwegian route after forecasts of strong winds and rough seas near Leknes and Bodø. The Costa Cruises ship cancelled its scheduled October 2026 calls at those ports, prompting a full itinerary reshuffle and compensation for guests.
Captain Valentino Savarese informed passengers of the change on October 12. An assessment of forecasts and available alternatives led to the itinerary modification. Potentially adverse conditions were also affecting the approach to Leknes. Weather and sea conditions in Northern Europe can change rapidly, particularly during autumn.
Guest communications and compensation
Captain Savarese announced €100 in refundable onboard credit per guest. The credit is limited to two guests per cabin. In his notice, he thanked passengers for their understanding and cooperation. He emphasized that the changes were made with the safety and well-being of the crew and guests in mind.
Revised port schedule
The ship's original schedule was completely reconfigured. Leknes and Bodø were removed. Trondheim became an extended overnight stop, while Haugesund and Kristiansand were slotted into new days.
| Port | Original Date & Time | Revised Date & Time |
|---|---|---|
| Gravdal (Leknes) | Oct 13 | Cancelled |
| Bodø | Oct 14 | Cancelled |
| Trondheim | Oct 15, 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. | Oct 13, 9:00 p.m. arrival - Oct 14, 11:00 p.m. departure |
| Haugesund | Oct 17 | Oct 16, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. |
| Kristiansand | Not originally scheduled | Oct 17, 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. |
| At Sea | Oct 16, Oct 18 | Oct 15, Oct 18 |
The vessel will now spend October 15 at sea. The scheduled sea day on October 18 ahead of the return to Hamburg on October 19 remains unchanged.
Excursions and onboard support
Excursions booked through Costa for Leknes and Bodø were canceled automatically. Costa Cruises is automatically refunding any impacted Costa excursions. Replacement shore excursions for Trondheim, Haugesund, and Kristiansand were made available onboard beginning on the morning of October 13. The ship’s My Tours Office on Deck 3 will assist guests in exploring alternative excursion options.
Context of regional disruptions
This is not the first weather-related itinerary change in northern Norway in 2026. In March, Ambassador Cruise Line’s Ambition saw its entire Northern Lights itinerary replaced due to worsening weather in the region.
Guests can use the onboard credit for spa treatments, specialty restaurants, shopping, or hotel service charges. Any unused amount will be refunded to the original payment method.
