Royal Caribbean is deploying four ships for its 2028 Alaska cruise season, with bookings opening soon. The lineup includes Anthem of the Seas, Ovation of the Seas, Serenade of the Seas, and Voyager of the Seas, sailing from April through September.

Anthem of the Seas will operate from Seward and Vancouver from May to September. Its schedule features seven-night cruises and two- to six-night Cruisetour extensions. Royal Caribbean said, "For Royal Caribbean guests, the time is now to book for the summer 2028 Alaska season."

Alaska cruise itineraries and homeports

Cruises depart from Seattle, Vancouver, and Seward on seven-night itineraries. Each ship offers a distinct route and homeport schedule.

Voyager of the Seas kicks off the season from Seattle on April 28, 2028. Ovation of the Seas begins its Seattle-based season on May 8. Serenade of the Seas starts Sunday departures from Vancouver on May 14. Anthem of the Seas offers both roundtrip and one-way voyages between Vancouver and Seward.

Extended cruise experiences

Select voyages can be paired with land-based Cruisetour extensions. These range from two to six nights in hotels before or after sailing.

Many Anthem of the Seas itineraries include these extensions. They pair the seven-night cruise with extra hotel nights and daytime adventures focused on Alaskan history, culture, scenery, and wildlife. At the end of the season, Anthem of the Seas offers a special nine-night roundtrip itinerary departing September 15, 2028. It visits Icy Strait Point, Sitka, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and cruises past Hubbard Glacier.

Ovation of the Seas also features a unique one-way, ten-night Alaska cruise from Seattle to Vancouver on September 18, 2028. Scenic cruising of Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier occurs on select departures when weather permits.

Ship features and upgrades

The 2028 fleet brings varied amenities and recent upgrades. Ovation of the Seas, a 4,234-guest Quantum-class ship, underwent a major amplification in 2026.

Following the upgrades, Ovation offers an expanded casino, the adults-only Sound Cellar lounge, Starbucks, and the Pesky Parrot tiki bar. New dining options include Izumi Hibachi and Giovanni's Italian Kitchen. The ship also added new staterooms.

Voyager of the Seas is a 3,602-guest ship featuring ice skating, laser tag, and a Solarium pool deck. Serenade of the Seas, welcoming 2,143 guests, is known for its glass exterior and offers access to the longest zipline at Icy Strait Point. Anthem of the Seas, a Quantum-class vessel, features the North Star observation capsule and the indoor activity space SeaPlex. It is one of the two largest ships sailing to Alaska in 2028.

Booking details and availability

Bookings open to Crown & Anchor Society members on October 1, 2026. Public access follows shortly after. Royal Caribbean stated, "Bookings now open to Crown & Anchor Society members and opening to the public on Thursday, October 1, 2026."

The company unveiled its full 2028 Alaska lineup on September 30, 2026. All new sailings are available on its website. The season leverages the new Dale R. And Carol Ann Lindsey Alaska Railroad Terminal in Seward, which opened in June 2026. This facility is the largest cruise terminal in Alaska, designed for more efficient guest processing and luggage handling. The final Alaska departure of the 2028 season is Voyager of the Seas from Seattle on September 22.
