Royal Caribbean Cancels Port Day Casita Reservations
Royal Caribbean is canceling port day casita reservations on its Icon-class ships after a system error offered them at incorrectly low prices, with guests

Royal Caribbean is canceling reservations for Port Day Casitas after a pricing error offered the exclusive pool deck amenity at unexpectedly low rates. The cruise line is notifying guests on all three Icon-class ships that their bookings are invalid and issuing refunds.
Some guests recently booked casitas for less than $200, only to have those reservations canceled. One guest shared on Facebook, "I had booked a casita for $120 when they had a sale. They canceled my reservation and now that same casita is $384." The notification from Royal Caribbean stated, "Due to an error on our end, we're unable to honor your Port Day Casita reservation for embarkation day." It promised a full refund within 14 business days.
Casitas are luxury loungers found on the pool decks of select Royal Caribbean ships, including all Icon and Oasis class vessels. They offer dedicated service, water, a charging outlet, complimentary welcome drinks, and a prime location without the struggle to reserve standard deck chairs. These rentals are available on both port days and sea days, with port days often featuring lower prices. Pricing varies by sailing and day. For example, on an upcoming 3-night weekend sailing of Utopia of the Seas, casita rentals are available for $350 on port days. Discounts of up to 35% or more are frequently offered for pre-cruise purchases.
Scope of the Cancellations
The cancellations affect reservations on all three of Royal Caribbean's Icon-class ships: Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas, and Legend of the Seas. Multiple guests have reported similar experiences of their low-cost bookings being voided. The cruise line's notification email stated that "the issue has since been corrected," inviting interested guests to check for new reservation opportunities at the current, higher prices.
Many guests are frustrated, viewing the cancellations as a bait-and-switch tactic to sell the popular amenity at a higher rate. Cruise lines generally reserve the right to cancel and refund purchases made at an incorrect price, whether for fares, add-on amenities, or onboard activities.
Precedent for Pricing Errors
This is not the first time a cruise line has rescinded bookings made during a pricing error. In May 2026, Cruise Hive reported that Carnival Cruise Line canceled low fares booked in error during a systems outage and website update. Historically, cruise lines have occasionally honored such mistakes. In 2019, Royal Caribbean initially canceled drink packages sold for $18 per day due to a website glitch, but later honored that price after guest backlash. The current casita cancellations follow the more recent industry practice of correcting errors without honoring the mistaken prices.
