Viking Yi Dun Embarks on Chinese-Language Europe Season
Viking Cruises' Viking Yi Dun has set sail from Tarragona, Spain, marking the beginning of the 2026 Chinese-language Europe ocean season.
The Viking Yi Dun, a cruise ship offering full Chinese-language service in European waters, has departed from the port of Tarragona, Spain. The ship is carrying nearly 900 Chinese guests on a 13-day Mediterranean itinerary.
The sailing marks the start of Viking Cruises’ 2026 Chinese-language Europe ocean season, which will run through December with a total of eight distinct routes.

The 13-day voyage visits 10 destinations across six countries: Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Greece, and Croatia. Port calls include Barcelona, Marseille, Monte Carlo, Florence (Livorno), Rome (Civitavecchia), Naples, Mykonos, Athens (Piraeus), and Dubrovnik before ending in Venice.
The ship operates entirely in Mandarin, with Chinese-speaking crew, menus, signage, and shore excursions tailored to Chinese travelers. Viking has positioned the Yi Dun as a culturally familiar option for Chinese travelers seeking a premium European cruise experience without language barriers.
## Repositioning Voyage
Before arriving in Tarragona, Viking Yi Dun completed a 60-day voyage from Shanghai to the Mediterranean, across Asia, Africa, and Europe. The itinerary called at 27 ports in 16 countries, including stops in Singapore, Sri Lanka, Oman, Egypt, Turkey, and Greece. That sailing, which departed Shanghai in early June, served as a repositioning voyage and also carried Chinese guests throughout the journey.
The ship is poised to stay in Europe in 2027, with deployment in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
