Holland America Line is opening a new paid-access Beach Club at its private island, Half Moon Cay, this October. The cruise line is also adding a free barbecue pavilion and upgrading cabanas, bars, and beach furniture across the Bahamian destination.
These enhancements will debut in October and will be featured on more than two dozen Caribbean sailings. The updates begin a year-long lead-up to the island's 30th anniversary in 2027.
New Paid Beach Club Debuts
The most significant new feature is the Beach Club, a separate, gated area requiring a day pass. Passes will go on sale in early October. According to the cruise line, a pass includes priority tendering from the ship, dedicated waiter service, and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. It also covers beach accessories and specialty food and beverage offerings.
Holland America has not yet announced the pricing for the Beach Club or its guest capacity. "It's exciting to unveil the Beach Club as we prepare to welcome our first visitors in October," said Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line.
Free Upgrades for All Guests
Guests who do not purchase a Beach Club pass will still benefit from several island-wide improvements. A new complimentary food pavilion will serve a barbecue menu exclusive to the island. Existing bars and eateries are receiving renovations.
The cruise line is also refreshing its rental cabanas, clamshell sun shades, and daybeds. More daybeds are being added along the beachfront. New canopy loungers for two and additional standard beach chairs will provide more space for relaxation. Four pickleball courts, added last season, remain available for active guests.
Booking Details and Timeline
The upgrades will be in place for Caribbean sailings that visit Half Moon Cay from October 2026 through April 2027. This timeline was confirmed by the source report.
For travelers interested in the Beach Club, passes are expected to become available for booking in early October. The cruise line advises booking early once sales open, as pricing and capacity limits have not been disclosed. The same advice applies to the popular cabanas, which have a history of selling out long before a sailing date.
Half Moon Cay has been a staple of Holland America's Caribbean itineraries since 1997. As it approaches its 30th season, the classic free beach day remains, now accompanied by a premium paid option for guests seeking enhanced service.
