AmaWaterways, HX Expeditions, and Windstar Cruises have adopted d-flo's TravelComms Disruption Intelligence platform. They are the first cruise lines to use the system, which is designed to identify and manage travel disruptions.

The move addresses a core challenge in cruise operations. Itineraries depend on a complex web of destinations, ports, transport links, suppliers, and guests. A problem in one area can quickly ripple through the entire journey. According to a press release from d-flo, its solution integrates with a cruise line's reservation and operational systems. It combines real-time external insights with the operator's own booking and itinerary data.

The platform then pinpoints relevant disruptive events. It shows which itineraries, locations, and guests are or could be affected. This context is meant to help teams spot potential issues sooner. They can prioritize responses and coordinate actions more effectively.

The Need for Contextual Insight

In a statement, d-flo's co-founder and CEO Colin Brimson explained the rationale. "In our conversations with cruise operators, one thing became very clear: they don’t need more information, they need to understand which information mattered to their operation and their guests," Brimson said. The Disruption Intelligence platform is built to add that important context to real-time data.

Cruise Line Applications and Goals

The three adopting lines each highlighted how they expect to use the technology. Their goals vary by operational focus.

HX Expeditions, which sails to remote and changeable environments, believes the tool will strengthen its decision-making. Andrew Horswell, director of land operations at HX Expeditions, noted the line looks forward to use the system for greater visibility. This should enhance the guest journey during expeditions.

River cruise specialist AmaWaterways is focused on the distinct challenges of its sector. The company's COO, Jon Burrows, commented that they are excited to explore the platform's potential. It will help them stay connected to events in the destinations they sail through.

Windstar Cruises, which recently adopted d-flo's main TravelComms platform, operates small-ship journeys worldwide. Arthur Theodorou, VP of IT at Windstar, added that the partnership provides real-time visibility into global travel disruptions. It also enables instant notification of affected guests.

Integration with Guest Communications

D-flo's system is designed to work alongside its existing TravelComms Platform. That platform manages personalized guest communications during the post-booking and pre-departure phase. When a disruption occurs and action is required, the Disruption Intelligence module can feed insights directly into the communications tool. This allows for personalized messages to be sent to guests.

The company stated that it will continue to evolve the Disruption Intelligence platform. New modules, features, and functionality are already planned for the coming months. These developments aim to extend the system's capabilities to meet the changing needs of cruise operators and the wider travel industry.
